Health and Safety files and assistance for small to medium contractors
A contractor is anyone you ask to do work for you on your premises who is not an employee. A contractor might be used for:
Building or construction work; cleaning; recruitment; catering; gardening; Marketing; IT support & maintenance; Security Services; Electrical; Plumbing;
So who is responsible for the health & safety of contractors whilst they are working on your premises? Both you and the contractor has responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Construction Regulations.
Depending on what the risks are, there are certain documents which need to be completed and kept on site.
We at SHE Risk Management offer assistance to Contractors who need assistance with their Health
and Safety documentation and/or files.
As part of the service we offer the following:
- Assist the Contractor/Client with their Risk Assessments.
- Draft a Health and Safety file with all the required documents.
- Conduct on-site training with the Contractor so that they understand their
responsibilities. - We hand them the hard copy of the file and well as an electronic version.
- This will then allow the Contractor to re-use their documentation instead of paying for a new file every time they have a new project to do.
